SCHOOLS WITH SOUL: A NEW APPROACH TO SPIRITUAL, MORAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EDUCATION

COED FOUNDATION LAUNCH | MARCH 2014 HOUSE LORDS

In her welcome to the 40 delegates who packed a committee room in the House of Lords, Baroness Estelle Morris, the sponsor and a patron of the CoED Foundation spoke for everybody when she argued that, 'in the past, we have always taken compassion in education for granted and assumed we were doing it... and now we must strive to implement it consciously'. How we might achieve this provided the overall theme of the launch.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH - BASED SUPPLEMENTARY SCHOOLS

IEC 2014 Conference - The Development of Islamic Spirituality Through Education.
Our CEO, Maurice Irfan Coles spoke on this area of SMSC at this year's conference. This interactive session discussed the nature and definition of spirituality from three standpoints: the English OFSTED regime's, Coles' own work and Islamic perspectives, in order to see if they were mutually compatible. Participants critiqued their understanding and its application within their own school context. A range of practical suggestions to enhance spiritual development were outlined and discussed.
